Mussels and Beer

This is a very quick dish and low calorie dish




  1. Chop shallots and garlic.
  2. Put 1 tbs of olive oil in skillet.
  3. saute shallots 3 minutes then add garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  4. Add mussels.
  5. Pour in beer and stir.
  6. Put in a pinch of saffron and stir.
  7. As soon as mussels open, remove just mussels to dish.
  8. Add 2 tbs of butter to skillet. bring to a full boil for 2 minutes.
  9. Pour over mussels.
  10. Add crusty bread for dipping in the sauce.
  11. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  12. Squeeze a little lemon over mussels if you wish.
